Welcome to Climate Lab

Climate Lab is the place for innovative, bold alliances to achieve climate neutrality goals as quickly as possible.

Our Story

Climate Lab was initiated by the Austrian Climate and Energy Fund and the Austrian Ministry of Climate Action and Energy (BMK) together with Wien Energie, EIT Climate-KIC and Impact Hub.

We share the conviction that the solutions needed on the path to climate neutrality can only be developed in new partnerships. We need to collaborate like never before—across industries and sectors.

Through our own alliance and in Climate Lab itself, we want to exemplify and enable this. Together, we are developing collaborative programs, creating space for exploration, and developing a cross-sector community of climate innovators to achieve our shared goal: Climate neutrality as quickly as possible.

Our Role

We facilitate collaboration between leading companies and relevant public authorities in Austria; create programs for promising start-ups and scale-ups across Europe; and provide an inspiring space to work, think, meet, and connect at a unique location in Vienna.

Our Impact

We focus on the sectors with the biggest potential to reduce global greenhouse gas emissions and make the shift towards a circular economy: Energy, mobility, construction, and housing. We measure our progress based on the innovative concepts created and emissions saved; on the powerful connections made and new partnerships initiated; on the sustainable jobs created and new topics established to influence public discourse. And, finally, on the courage and optimism we can inspire despite the challenges that we all face.

Our Space

With three floors of working, meeting and event space, Climate Lab’s modern interior is based on human-centric principles and experimentation with circular practices. From leased furniture and carbon-neutral carpets, to flexible work and event spaces, community kitchens and focus rooms, our space is designed to encourage connection, collaboration and creativity.
